What is The Flaneur Project?

Seen, joined by a rotating group of collaborators, will be presenting a series of social media projects on Instagram inviting landscape architects, urbanists, and related disciplines, to provide their thoughts on today’s diverse urban environment and how it is affecting their practice.

We use the concept of the ‘Flaneur’ as a spark for conversation about how the diversity of our cities is expanding our understanding of who the city is built for, who gets to design it, and how people might encounter future built environments.

The intent of this project is to highlight innovative ways in which design practices are taking into account an expanding understanding of our urban culture and landscapes.

Project: 01 : February 2021

In Collaboration with The National Association of Minority Landscape Architects

This project is reaching out to landscape architects of color, working in the urban environment, for thoughts on the following question: What would you propose to change how public space is apportioned, utilized and perceived? Please provide a written statement and images, sketches, or diagrams supporting your idea are highly encouraged.

Each participant will be featured in an Instagram Story and Post (hosted on @seensocialagency) with their Instagram account tagged, as well as the accounts of any collaborating organizations. Sharing will be encouraged.
